Taught by visual artist Alfred Marasigan, this course will use fundamental painting concepts to bring out the students’ creativity, rather than limit their self-expression with rules.

Through this class, students will be able to:
Demonstrate basic painting elements, concepts, and techniques.
Articulate their ideas through painting.
Create art in an expressive, authentic, and holistic manner.
Receive a certificate of completion.
Be trained by a hands-on artist-instructor.
Rewatch past sessions for reference or guidance.
Comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.
Any brand, minimum of five colors: red, yellow, (light) blue, black, and white.
For water and/or paint.
Optional, any size.
Canvas, illustration board, and/or cartolina
Cartolina and illustration board are cheaper, but canvas is meant for longevity. Please have one piece of any of the mentioned materials per session, along with sheets of paper. Recommended canvas and board size is A3.
At least two different sizes, one large and one small.
Alfred Marasigan first specialized in landscape painting before exploring digital formats in his art. In 2019, he earned an MA in contemporary art from UiT Arctic University of Norway's Kunstakademiet i Tromsø and is a Norwegian Council of the Arts Grantee for Newly Graduated Artists. His paintings and other works have been exhibited at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, Enclave Labs (UK), Tromsø Kunstforening (Norway), Small Projects (Norway), and Meinblau Projektraum (Germany). He teaches visual art history, painting, and aesthetics at Ateneo de Manila University.

How does it work?
This course is powered by Kuro.pro’s course player. All course activities will be done on a single user-friendly interface. When it’s time for class, login to Kuro.pro then select your course.
Simply click the activity for the scheduled time, and you’re in! You can join the Zoom-powered session from within the course player or by launching your Zoom app (aka Zoom Client) from inside the course player.

Course Contents and Schedule
This course is part of the #ArtAtHome online art classes for kids.
1. Is this a one-time payment or a monthly subscription?
This is a one-time payment. You will need to enroll before the first session.
2. Will I need to leave the website to participate in activities?
Some advanced features like polls, allow-to-talk, and breakout rooms might not be available with your web browser. If you have compatibility issues, a "Join through your Zoom app" button will always be available to click anytime. It will open the Zoom app on your device and redirect you back into the meeting automatically. If you don't have the Zoom app installed, it will automatically prompt you through the easy installation process.
3. Will this class require parental supervision?
This class will require minimal parental supervision. You will need to login to your account and then give the device to your child (do not share login credentials like your password with your child). And although direct supervision is not required, an adult should be in the room with the child at all times.
